Ryan Hall: Leeds Rhinos and England winger to join Sydney Roosters

Leeds Rhinos and England winger Ryan Hall has agreed a two-year deal with National Rugby League side Sydney Roosters ahead of the 2019 season.

England's all-time leading try-scorer, 30, has won won six Grand Finals, scoring 231 tries and playing 327 times for Leeds since his debut in 2007.

But earlier this week he revealed his intention to leave the club.

Roosters recruitment boss Adam Hartigan described Hall as "a natural finisher blessed with size, speed and strength."

Hartigan added: "We believe that Ryan will be a terrific fit within our squad and we look forward to welcoming him to the club later this year."

Hall is a rarity in modern-era rugby league; an outside back with a genuine fear-factor and respect throughout the southern hemisphere, where attitudes can be sniffy towards our star talent.

The scourge of Australia and New Zealand at Test level with England, now the powerful winger gets the chance to test himself week-to-week against the best in the world in the NRL.

Hall follows in the footsteps of former Rhinos prop Adrian Morley in moving to Bondi-based Roosters, as well as fellow backs Martin Offiah and Joe Lydon who played there in the 1980s, and most recently Wigan winger Joe Burgess who failed to make an impact before returning to Super League.

However, aged 30, Hall is in a different place in his career to Burgess. He certainly has the skill-set, the size and the ability to make an impression down under where tough forwards such as Mal Reilly, Morley, the Burgess brothers and James Graham have tended to succeed rather than backs.
