NOWHERE TO GO. AND BACK HERE IN THE METRO, RISING FLOOD WATER CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM AS WELL. RIGHT NOW, THE SHAWNEE GOLF COURSE IS UNDER WATER. THE COURSE SITS RIGHT NEXT TO THE OHIO RIVER, MAKING IT ESPECIALLY VULNERABLE TO FLOODING, WHICH CAN LEAVE A MESS BEHIND. THAT CAN TAKE DAYS OR EVEN WEEKS TO CLEAN UP. IF IT’S HERE FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME, SAY LIKE A WEEK, THEN WE WE COULD SEE SIGNIFICANT CLEANUP. BUT IF IT’S ONLY HERE FOR A FEW DAYS, THEN IT WON’T BE QUITE AS BAD. Shawnee Golf Course floods as Ohio River rises in Louisville
In Louisville, rising floodwaters have been posing significant challenges. The Shawnee Golf Course, located near the Ohio River, is partially submerged. Its proximity to the river makes it highly susceptible to flooding, which can result in extensive cleanup efforts lasting days or even weeks. Head Golf Professional Juan Mitchell mentioned that debris of all kinds can end up on the course when the river floods."If it's here for a long period of time, say like a week, then we could see significant cleanup," said Mitchell. "If it's only here for a few days, it won't be quite as bad. I've seen it to where we've had fish flopping all over the golf course once it goes down. We've had tires, Port-a-Potties, anything that comes from the river, that can come from the river, it can come onto the golf course. Depending on how long it is is how long cleanup is going to be." This is not the first time the course has flooded. It experienced flooding a little over a month ago.
