Parlez-vous français? Yerevan to host Francophone Culture Days

YEREVAN, MARCH 6, ARMENPRESS. The Francophone Culture Days will kick off in Yerevan March 11 and will run through an entire month.

Ambassador of France to Armenia Jonathan Lacote told a news conference that during the festivities they will offer a variety of language-cultural events, dedicated to film, theater, science and gastronomy.

“French is a language that 300 million people around the world speak, which is the 3rd language in business, 4th language online and 5th most spoken language in the world, which is spread in all 5 continents,” he said.

He said a Francophone Film Festival will be launched on March 11 at the Moscow Theater in downtown Yerevan. The festival is organized jointly with the embassies of Canada, Belgium and Switzerland. It will feature 11 new movies of various genres with Armenian or Russian subtitles. “Entrance will be free of charge”, he said.

Lacote highlighted the French gastronomy events scheduled for March 21 and March 22 in Gyumri, Yerevan and Dilijan.

On March 23, Yerevan Alliance Francaise will host a French-language writing competition for teenagers and youth aged 13-25.

The city of Goris will host the 3rd Theater Festival of Young Francophones in Armenia.

The events will be concluded with a seminar on data science and social science, organized in cooperation with the French University of Armenia, the Toulouse Computer Research Institute and the Armenian Academy of Sciences.
