LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, June 13, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The National Black Theater Festival has invited Keena Ferguson to stage her one-woman show, Keena Unbranded in Winston-Salem, NC on August 4th and 5th, 2017. Ferguson, an accomplished actor and dancer, lives in Los Angeles but is lauded nationally for her prolific repertoire and for her work within her community.

In 2016, Keena was recognized for her excellence in the arts by the distinguished American civil rights organization, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, who awarded the illustrious NAACP Theater Award in the category of Best One-Person Show for Keena Unbranded.

Ferguson’s Keena Unbranded is an achievement that is beyond well-deserved. She says, "Being able to inspire others through my art is the best gift I receive." Keena Ferguson is knowledgeable in entertainment arts, drama and dance. She has worked in guest casts of many hit TV shows such as Two in a Half Men, Atlanta and the upcoming S.W.A.T., just to scratch the surface.

Keena's film work is a large part of how she became the star that she is today. On the big screen, she has appeared in lead roles in several theatrically released movies such as the action-packed thriller, Red Line, and the acclaimed screwball dramedy American Hero.

But the icing on Keena's cake today is her win of the NAACP Award. She promises that the same dazzling qualities that the show was created to showcase, will shine at the National Black Theater Festival. As for the story of Keena Unbranded, Ferguson believes that while it was an honor to receive the NAACP award, she also learned that her story needs to be shared with the world.

Keena firmly believes that making change through art and storytelling is continuing to make significant and positive impacts in American society. She says, “Art is meant to be shared with the world; through art, we can heal, connect and build community, and I am excited to share my story with the world. Love art. Create. Pursue your passion.”

Ferguson has invited her fans to become a part of the Unbranded team road show by making donations through an upcoming Indiegogo campaign.
